#299. crustettes

Chuggers apparently target specific types of passers-by for their self-righteous money sucking, preferring "alternative" hipsters to suits. Studies have shown that your average small-time capitalist is an incredibly tight-arsed miser who won't give to charity, whereas young crustettes are more likely to worry about African babies. I believe I fall into their core target demographic (they wave at me a lot and seem to want minutes from me).

On the other foot is the situation that happened yesterday. Several Fascists were campaigning in Rathmines; handing out leaflets, snogging babies, etc. Hanging around outside Dunnes, they were literally stepping over Paddy (local homeless dude - I think that's his name?) to hand out their propaganda. Witnessing this and mentally building up an argument about this mid-term facade, I was summarily blanked by them all. It was amazing. Hand flyer to person A, hand flyer to person B, glaze eyes over bearded type (me), hand flyer to person C. I suppose it's comforting in a way.

So they weren't actually fascists then. There were real fucking fascists down at that hunger strike.

Pinochet, Franco, Mussolini, the generals in Argentina, Suharto, Bertie generalísimo Ahern? Admiral Horthy, Tojo, Juan Perón, Strößner, Trujillo, Michéal duce Martin?

Kehoe, you're so predictable.

I suspect saying ‘I do not think that word means what you think it means’ would have been yet more predictable. Anyway, I hope your written letter of apology to Michelle Bachelet is ready for the post tomorrow morning.

Heh. Yeah, a Kehoean "look at my superior language skills" retort would have been more predictable.

I'm perfectly comfortable with my definition of the word. In this context, I've used it as an exaggeration to emphasise Fianna Fáil's nationalist policies on immigration & justice as well as their choice of bedfellows.

You've done something similar by suggesting I write to Michelle Bachelet. See, it's easy.

I think it was more a "look at my superior Princess Bride quotation skills" retort.
