Jaysus, it's been a month since I've said anything here. Where does the time go? Sometimes things go through your mind and you think to yourself that it'd be useful to collate your thoughts and get it down somewhere (here). But the thoughts flitter away or there's something else that needs doing or, usually, laziness and procrastination take over, with the end effect that there's nothing much going on here.
The last 4 weeks has seen me busy doing bugger all. The Elecric Picnic was an enjoyable old weekend. As my first Irish festival, I was surprised at the chilled atmosphere, lack of cretin/scang and general relaxed-but-energetic buzz. There was the right mix of folks and good facilities lent it the right mood. I wasn't exactly in the right frame of mind and missed a few things, but the music was good and twas a good weekend all-in-all. Full marks to us for hitching and arriving in the back of a pick-up truck.
Hmmm. What else. Err, was sick for a bit. I don't get sick easily and this bout can probably be attributed to working in a subtropical rainforest. Without the trees. Being sick isn't as much fun when you don't have a TV and you're too shivery even to ooze down to Laser to get a DVD. The result being that you finally get around to work on fun things like dartmaps.
And finally... Many of you will be excited to hear that Eddie is in the building. He's still settling in to his new gaff, but I'll be sure to study him acutely and report back promptly.
a) He was bred in captivity rather than caught wild. Meaning no wildlife harming and that he's used to living in a little box.
b) His previous owner didn't want him, so it's not like we're fueling the trade.
c) We've done plenty of reading about the particular species and provided what he needs to he healthy and happy.
Lizards (uromastyx anyway) don't actually have a very big territory in the wild, so are quite happy in a terrarium.
I wouldn't dream of keeping a parrot, for example.
