#210. whities

Not that I usually enjoy the company of morning commuters, but today's caffeine deprived trip bore witness to more than a small amount of disdain for my fellow passengers. Looking at their grey faces and repulsive ties suits I came to the realisation that 8 out of every 10 of them are either racist, xenophobic or unreservedly nationalist. Which 80% I don't know; only the ballot box and burning cross witness the discriminators.

Hypocritical as it seems, but I'm a-feeling a whole pile of contempt for the pasty-faced race right now.

I, for one, didn't regard the referendum as racist.

I appreciate that not everyone that voted yes is racist.

According to this exit poll, I'd say only about 77 (36+27+14) per cent of the yes camp would fall into that category.

You're from very near to the Caucaus mountains, aren't you Vlad? :)

Feeling that misanthropy is something you can escape like a bad smell is like never changing your socks.

Aye. Misanthropy doesn't outweigh the civic responsibility of taking the train

If it makes you feel any better, it's actually highly likely that 80% of the population of any given country, pasty-faced or not, is xenophobic, patriotic and nationalistic. Escape to Germany won't make it any better you know. They probably hate Turkish people there more though. Also the referendum wasn't *intentionally* racist (imho anyway), but it's an unavoidable side-effect which Mad Michael McDowell & Co. weren't particularly bothered about, the feckin' eejits.

Yep. I never implied it was inherently racist. But it'll indeed incite.

I know that, save a desert island, any corner of the world that one may escape to contains humans, which are essential alike the world over.

However, some parts of the world are essentially better than others and so can reasonably said to warrant escape to.

Also, large Turkish population = plentiful falafel-based snacks.

To change the subject... I saw you..yes the tall hairy one with penchant for irrelevant political rantings.. on 28th March ish... getting off a plane from America...the plane I was about to get on. You wandered past me looking like every passing snack trolley had been handing out hash cookies for the whole trip over. Ignoring my gesticulations, you walked on, leaving everyone on my flight convinced I was a total nut or a fanatical aerobics teacher.

Seriously? Golly! That date does sound about right. What a coinkydink.

I suspect my haggardness was due to the many many hours without sleep as opposed to Virgin's liberal in-flight menus.
