#192. Irritations

Current irritations.
- The Irish Internet Association giving their award for Web Designer Excellence to a page with frames.
- The Little Caesar's delivery van driving around with no apostrophe in the name, but an apostrophe in the URL, like this: www.littlecaesar's.ie.
- The current series of advertisements for the Liffey Valley shopping centre that are being run in train stations. The ads cleverly appeal to the average train user by extolling their carpark's lack of double yellow lines and bus lanes.
- Pedestrians that should have learned how to walk in a straight line.
- The continued Garda policy of seizing what appears to be the most expensive cannabis in Ireland. 400Kg of dope valued at €4m equates to about €283 an ounce — twice the current street value as I understand it. Must be good shit.
- The Permanent TSB website which uses a javascript browser sniffer to write different CSS for Internet Explorer and Netscape 4.7 and nothing for any other browser, revealing a seriously ugly website. Guess I won't be opening an account there after all...
- The dead or abused Samaritans and DRCC websites to whom I was going to make a donation to as my kris kindle gift this year.
- Paying €60 for the arse of an elephant and a few spuds in Jury's.
- With the exception of the ubiquitous Porterhouse and scattered exceptions, The lack of decent beer in Dublin pubs. Suggestions?
- Being told by Apple technical support that my applecare plan was in their database and every was ok, then a week and a half later being told that I need some magic bit of paper to get Betsie a new hard disk.
- Spod getting to play with Panther before me.
- No-one telling me that MapQuest now do maps of Ireland.
- The Common Cold. Sniffle.

What happened Betsie's hard disk? Did you try and upgrade to Panther and it fucked up? I thought that was only an issue with FireWire 800 hard disks...

Ste: No-one said anthing about being either heavy or dark.
Conall: No, nothing to do with Panther. Betsie's just a little shaken after flying Ryanair too much.

Exactly! The height of hypocracy. How innovative can you be if you can't register your own domain name?
I actually exchanged some emails with Mike Fagan a few years ago over this. Must dig them out sometime...
