I guess everyone wants to feel affected by this week's events. Perhaps to quantify the scope of what happened. When something like that happens, it's hard to take it in all at once, while remembering that it's real life. No, not a film - something that will still be real when you turn off the telly. My first thoughts went to friends that were in the US for the summer, who said they'd be doing the tourist thing before they came home - which would presumably include a trip to the observation floor on said ex-building. But then I realised that they're Irish and wouldn't get up at that time in the morning.

The only direct way it has affected me is that an exam I was due to have last Friday was prosponed because of this "day of national mourning". Which is the daftest idea. I mean, at most it achieves is more disruption, which is exactly what the terrorists hoped to achieve. I think the European norm of just 3 minutes was ample show of solidarity without making this thing an even larger deal (if possible) than what it is.

Don't call me selfish, but this has fucked up my exam. I had put everything in short term memory for the exam, which'll have expired by the time it comes around again this Saturday as I have to work this week. Actually do call me selfish.
