#16. A very strong cup of coffee

Colm, Malcolm and Aidan have left today for sunnier climbs. Er, London. They plan to go for summer, but having no flat or jobs, I'll be seeing them back in a couple of weeks. If they do manage to find somewhere, we'll be taking advantage of floor space and will head over for the odd weekend.

When I got yesterday's message from Karl saying that we should probably do something for them going away, I had no idea that it would turn into what it did. Having only a bus fare home, I resigned myself to not drinking and getting last dart type thing. I did get a dart home, but it happened to be the 8 o'clock dart from town, having whiled away 12 hours in various holes such as modern green bar (too trendy) and fibbers (too sleazy - it got raided!). Some very kind people bought me beer, so it was bearable.

We retired to said Colm's house and tormented a kitten for a few hours before realising it probably wasn't a good idea to wake up in his house with him in a different country. So, being skint and all - meself and Ste had to use damned public transport to get home.

We had a good laugh at the early risers on the no. 11. At 6:30, someone had a handful full of notes on Windows 2000 registry...at 6:30. Blame the sleep deprivation or the fading drunkeness, but at that moment I decided to avoid the capitalist rat-race that these people were subjecting themselves to. Even now, sitting in work with a very strong cup of coffee, I realise that this is a stopgap for summer. It is infact a 9-5 job, which I do from 2-7. I'm quite pleased of that fact.

Walking home from the dart station, thunder and lightning gave a surreal feel to the whole thing. At home, dad wondering what I was doing up so early, as I sat across the table, him eating breakfast, me eating last night's microwaved dinner.
